According to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, an accredited investor has a net worth of at least $1 million, excluding the value of his or her primary residence, or has had income of at least $200,000 per year for the past two years/$300,000 jointly with spouse, if married – and has a reasonable expectation to earn the same amount again this year and beyond.
